Pakistan Receives Invitation to Join US–Iran Talks in Istanbul

(MENAFN) Pakistan has received an invitation to participate in upcoming talks between the United States and Iran, which are expected to take place later this week in Istanbul, according to a Pakistani official.

“Pakistan has received the invitation for the upcoming talks between Iran and the United States,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said, as reported by local media.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to attend the meeting.

US media have reported that senior officials from Washington and Tehran are preparing for rare face-to-face negotiations in Istanbul on Friday. The planned meeting is said to involve US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, with Türkiye hosting the talks. Officials from Qatar, Egypt, and other regional states are also expected to attend.

While the venue has not been officially confirmed, the discussions are expected to cover multiple tracks, including Iran’s nuclear program and broader US concerns related to missiles and regional militias, despite the parties remaining far apart on key issues.
