Pakistan, Afghanistan agree to truce during Doha discussions
Reports confirmed that a mutual understanding was achieved between the two sides, with both pledging to uphold one another’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
According to an announcement shared on social media, delegations from Islamabad and Kabul are scheduled to reconvene in Istanbul on October 25 to continue more comprehensive discussions on future cooperation.
Officials from Afghanistan’s interim government also affirmed the development. “Negotiations between representatives of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, held in Qatar, have concluded with the signing of a bilateral agreement,” Mujahid said on X.
He added that the accord reaffirms both countries’ “dedication to peace, mutual respect, and the preservation of strong and constructive neighborly relations.”
The agreement further stipulates that neither side will engage in attacks on each other’s military personnel, civilians, or key infrastructure. Reports added that a follow-up mechanism, involving international mediators, will be established to examine any violations and ensure compliance with the terms.
